Jonah Kim

Jonah Kim is a cellist, widely recognized for his signature warmth of tone and musical voice. Critics have praised his artistry for its “cosy warmth” (Gramophone), paired with “courage underpinned by formidable technical prowess” (All About the Arts), placing him among the finest American cellists performing today.

Kim made his solo debut at age 12 with Wolfgang Sawallisch and the Philadelphia Orchestra, followed by his Kennedy Center debut with Marvin Hamlisch and the National Symphony Orchestra. Since then, he has appeared as a soloist with orchestras around the world and captivated audiences as a recitalist on prestigious international stages.

A chamber musician, Kim’s collaborations span some of today’s leading artists, including Yuja Wang and Jon Nakamatsu. His ensemble, Trio Barclay, serves as ensemble-in-residence at the Barclay Theatre in Orange County, commissioning and premiering new works for each performance.

Kim is also an active recording artist, with acclaimed releases on the Delos Productions label, and a dedicated artistic leader, serving as Artistic Director of the Music Society of San Miguel and founder of the San Francisco Music Festival.

In addition to his concert career, Jonah Kim is dedicated to education and mentorship, inspiring the next generation of musicians through teaching and outreach.
