The Caribbean Allstars are a pioneering reggae ensemble from the San Francisco Bay Area, founded in the 1970s by Trinidad-born drummer Hugh “Sweetfoot” Maynard. They blend traditional Jamaican reggae with Trinidadian calypso, soca, and steel drum rhythms, creating a unique fusion that has defined Bay Area roots reggae. The band has performed with notable artists such as Carlos Santana, Taj Mahal, and Narada Michael Walden. Their albums include Paths to Greatness (1992) and Calypso Favourites (2004), showcasing their diverse musical influences and enduring legacy in the reggae scene.
