Formed in 1995, the Mood Swing Orchestra specializes in the timeless swing and dance band music of the 1930s and 1940s. Their repertoire celebrates the golden era of big band, performing classics popularized by icons such as Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Benny Goodman, Glenn Miller, and Tommy Dorsey.
Known for their fresh and engaging approach, Mood Swing has built a loyal following among Bay Area music lovers. The group was recognized as one of the best local swing bands by San Francisco Magazine and has been featured on the nationally syndicated radio program One Night Stand, where host Chris Nielsen praised them as a standout modern band carrying forward the great swing tradition.
The orchestra performs regularly at weddings, corporate events, and iconic San Francisco venues including Bimbo’s 365 Club and Café du Nord. Members of the ensemble have also appeared at major international festivals such as the Montreux Jazz Festival and North Sea Jazz Festival.
