When you think of San Francisco, you probably don’t think of jazz, but there are actually quite a few spots to while away an evening while sipping on a chilled martini and taking in the sounds of hypnotic melodies and harmonies. These seven just so happen to be our favorites.
SF Jazz Center
HAYES VALLEY
What better place to see jazz than in the first stand-alone structure in the country built specifically for the genre? The auditorium holds 700 people and was built to showcase the acoustic quality of a concert hall, but provide the laid back intimacy of a jazz club. There are over 300 performances a year, and members get a first chance to buy tickets as well as access to members-only events and listening parties. If you love jazz, then there’s a good chance this place is already a second home to you. If you’re on the fence, it’s the perfect place to explore and learn more.
Fillmore Jazz Festival – 2008
Blending art and soul in one of the country’s most unique neighborhoods, the Fillmore Jazz Festival is the largest free Jazz festival on the West Coast, drawing over 100,000 visitors over the Independence Day weekend.
From sunup to sundown, visitors can groove to the sounds of live music from multiple stages, browse the offerings of over 12 blocks of fine art and crafts and enjoy gourmet food and beverages.
Asian to Cajun, paintings to pottery, old favorites and new directions, the San Francisco Fillmore Jazz Festival is rich.

Monterey Jazz Festival – 2019
A Renowned Festival
Over 500 artists performed nonstop on 8 stages/3 nights/2 days of the world’s best jazz at the 62nd Monterey Jazz Festival, September 27-29 2019.
The Monterey Jazz Festival offers 20 acres of magnificent oak-studded grounds for fans to enjoy, featuring films, conversations with the Festival’s stars, exhibitions, food and beverages, an international shopping bazaar, and 8 stages of live jazz entertainment spread throughout the grounds.
